The SCWO Revolution
Innoveox possesses a revolutionary technology: Supercritical Water Oxidation, which allows for the treatment of all forms of organic waste. It is especially effective in treating hazardous industrial waste such as oils, solvents, and pesticides, and also complex, corrosive, and resistant waste.
This technology consists in pressurizing (> 250 bars) and superheating (> 400°C) the effluents in question, and injecting oxygen, which is immediately soluble. This triggers the oxidation and near-total destruction (<1 minute) of the organic matter. The water produced from this process can be released directly into the environment or reused, while metals and minerals can be precipitated and reused.
Principle
The principle of Supercritical Water Oxidation technology is founded on the properties of supercritical fluids. By applying high pressure (> 250 bars) and high temperatures (> 400°C) to the effluents under treatment, they are in a supercritical state whose properties are intermediates between a gas and a liquid.
Under these conditions:
- - The organic matter is completely soluble and oils mix with water;
- - When oxygen is injected, it is immediately soluble and generates the rapid oxidation (< 1 minute) of the organic matter, destroying it almost completely;
- - What emerges from the process is almost entirely water (nearly 100%) that can be either released as is into the environment or reused for industrial purposes. The other elements that emerge, and can be recovered, are minerals, metals, energy, and CO2.
